ACT語法：讓人又愛又恨的代詞

一、在那個月黑風高的夜晚，我碰到了他。

二、如果你愛一個人，就送他去紐約，因為那里是天堂；如果你恨我，就送他去紐約，因為那里是地獄。

三、范冰冰和李冰冰是演員。她參演了刪節版的“武媚娘傳奇”。

聰明如你，看出這三句話中的問題了嗎？

第1句錯在“那個”“他”等詞指代不明。

第2句錯在指代錯誤，應該把分號后面的 “我”換成“一個人”。

第3句錯在指代對象不清晰，句子中的她，在語法上來說，既可以指代李冰冰，也可以指代范冰冰，正確的做法，是把“她”改成“前者”。

在正規書面語中，代詞只能指代本句話或者上句話中出現的名詞。也就是說，如果出現了those geologists，句子前面一定會出現一群地質學家；如果出現了he，前面一定會出現一位爺們兒。不可以“越句指代”（指代往前兩句話或者三句話中的內容）。

另外，要注意單復數問題。This, that, it 等詞應指代單數名詞；those，these，they等詞應指代復數名詞。

下面三道例題（題目來自ACTOG）：

1. Nancy Drew, the teenaged e of hundreds of young adult mystery novels, is alive and still on the job. I know because my niece, Liana, and her friends were reading that all summer long.

A.NO CHANGE

B.the mysteries

C.up on that

D.it over

答案是B。原文中的that指代錯誤。根據文章意思，that顯然應當指代novels，但novels是復數而that是單數代詞，不符合語法，錯誤。換成the mysteries*合適。

2. The nature trail is six feet wide and seven miles long. It slithers through the forest like a snake, curving and bending along the banks of the river. The county cleared this path and paved it with packed gravel, so they would have a peaceful place to hike and bike.

D. people

答案是D。原文中的they只能指代前句出現的復數名詞“banks”，但顯然不符合句意。B、C選項也同樣錯在了they。

翻譯：小徑有6英尺寬7英里長。它像蛇一樣蜿蜒穿過森林，沿著河岸曲曲折折。郡里（派人）清理了這條小道，并且鋪上小沙礫，因此，人們可以有一處寧靜的地方徒步、騎車。

3. As you guide your character through the game's challenges, you come to know exactly how the machine responds to your every move. He or she learns where the hazards lurk and the special weapons are hidden.

答案是C。劃線部分前一句話中用到的代詞是第二人稱的your，you，本句應當延續同樣的人稱；句子不可以隨便跳轉為第三人稱的he or she (A選項)，或者第*人稱we (B選項)，或者泛指的people (D選項)。

翻譯：當你帶著角色闖關時，你了解（游戲）機如何對你的每個動作做出回應。你了解哪里有危險的陷阱，以及哪里有隱藏武器。
